New Compact, High Power S-band Telemetry Transmitter
M/A-COM, a business unit of Tyco Electronics and a leading provider of
wireless radio frequency (RF), microwave and millimeter wave components,
today announced a new MATM-090007-SA00XX 1W S-band telemetry transmitter
at this year's annual International Telemetering Conference (ITC) in Las
Vegas, NV. This programmable lower S-band FM telemetry transmitter is
ideally suited for rugged, space limited applications including smart
munitions, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and other harsh
environment commercial and industrial testing applications.

the industry's need for more efficient, compact and reliable transmitters
that are capable of withstanding the extreme conditions of telemetry
applications that have stringent size and durability specifications,"

The MATM-090007-SA00XX telemetry transmitter is fully customizable in
functionality and form factor for each end-user application. The unit is
31.8 x 41.4 x 5.1mm in size and available in other form factors including
a 48mm diameter unit. It utilizes a single +5.0V regulated supply voltage
with reverse bias and over-voltage protection. Additionally, the design of
this telemetry transmitter is capable of achieving a data range of 500Kbps
to 20Mbps, and has an average DC to RF efficiency of 33 percent.

M/A-COM offers Telemetry solutions for a wide range of applications and
specializes in miniaturized products for harsh environments. M/A-COM has
worked directly with the U.S. Army's Hardened Subminiature Telemetry and
Sensor System (HSTSS) program to develop rugged transmitters for ballistic
applications. Under the HSTSS program, M/A-COM successfully developed and
delivered a transmitter chip set for L- and S-band operation. The U.S.
Army Research Laboratory has tested these components to shocks up to
100,000 G.
M/A-COM also manufactures IRIG compliant transmitter, encoder and
regulation modules for ballistic applications. These modules are typically
used as part of an on-board diagnostic system for missiles, rockets, and
smart projectiles. To date, they have been used in projectile systems, where
measured launch accelerations were up to 50,000 G.
Complete telemetry systems, referred to as Telemetry Module Units (TMU),
are available with various features, form factors and functions. TMUs can
be purchased off the shelf or customized for a specific application. For
applications with limited space, M/A-COM has integrated the transmitter,
encoder and power circuits into a single card solution (SCS).
M/A-COM provides telemetry receivers and a wide variety of custom antennas
covering frequencies from 20 MHz to 40 GHz and available in many form
factors.
